Whitey`s Restaurant in Davison

This place is definitely not what it use to be. The fish is smaller and the prices are bigger! Not real happy with the waitress going to other tables and waiting on customers while she had our credit card in her hand! Probably won't be back unfortunately!

My son and I just went to Whitey’s for the first time. We were the first patrons in the building when they opened at 11:00 AM. I am amazed by some of the negative reviews regarding the salad bar. The salad bar was my favorite part! There are so many options at the salad bar and everything is so fresh. They have coleslaw, homemade dressings, a variety of mixed salads (broccoli, pasta), even jello, and so many more options!My son got the fish kids meal. With the kids meal he got a piece of fish, a side of his choice, the salad bar, a cup of soup, loaf of bread with butter, and a drink. Where the else can you get that amazing deal for a child?!The interior of this place is so cool and has so much character. And our waitress and the hostess were so sweet and helpful. We will definitely be back! I have a feeling this is going to be our go to place. I can’t wait to try more items. The menu has so much to choose from and reasonable pricing!

Called in a take out order for Gator Bites, the guy took my order and said it'll be ready in 15. I drive 20 minutes out of the way to pick up what is supposedly the best gator bites in the area. I get there and the guy at the window says that the gator bites are still frozen solid and it'll be a while before they are done. What a waste of time and gas... no offer to make it right either. Disappointed..

I don't hate it but don't serve me cod when I order walleye. Staff is great but kitchen needs to get its act together

Great place to have fish go there all the time!!

We love coming here for fish dinners, even though it's a 35 mile drive! The Fried cod is thick and crispy but not heavily coated. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. There is a small salad bar that is kept fresh & clean. We love to linger at our window seat and talk.

Whitey's is the best seafood restaurant in the area. Fantastic fish and chips. A great selection of fish and seafood, great Non seafood items food options too. Fast take out, very nice staff. Clean, fun, cozy dining room too. Very popular place, everyone leaves happy.

During Covid 19 shutdown these guys(and gals) were a light shining beacon. Our jaws dropped when we saw a line halfway around the parking lot. Kudos to the Crew, that line was taken care very quickly. We asked for a baked Cod dinner, no big deal.

Just watched the person at the drive-thru carry frog legs in his bare hands from the restaurant to the drive-thru. Pretty unsanitary under the current situation! Ordered a meal and only received the meat - no sides. 🤦‍♀️

I was at a grad party and stopped to treat my husband to whitney's for fish and shrimp. I did drive thru, very fast and professional service. He had never had whitney's and enjoyed it but said way to many fries wish there was more fish less fries. Besides that he seemed to enjoy his first experience

Went there for our first time today based on their good reviews and we're not disappointed. We both had the 2pc fish dinner which came with fresh warm bread and the salad bar. YES, a salad bar very well stocked. Hard to find theses days. Our waitress Haley was very attentive. Will definitely be back. Wish they had more than seafood.

Best Cod you can get any where pretty sure owner goes all out to get fresh lived around here my hole life never had or heard of anyone having a bad piece of fish

Just ordered a hamburger from the takeout window. Unfortunately, it tastes like a salt lick. Don't think it was necessary to use the whole salt shaker.

I've been here several times and the all you can eat crab is always fantastic. Fried cod is solid with generous portions. I've had fish tacos at dozens of places and here I would say they are only average, cold and soggy. Decor is cozy, nautical and good for families or a date night. Always friendly, interesting people in the bar area. Service is generally attentive.

Haven't been in a long time. Just as good as I remember. Actually better! Very crowded but was seated right away. Salad bar was very fresh and cold and clean. Nothing old or wilted. My husband and I had the three pieces of fish. And there's several ways you can have it cooked. I had one coconut, one battered, and one baked with seasoned butter in cast iron. The raspberry dipping sauce for the coconut was so yummy. Breading not too thick. Server was very attentive checking occasionally and keeping our iced teas full. Bathrooms were clean. Overall a great dinner experience. Definitely recommending and will be back soon!

The cod fish is very tasty /take out is quicker because you order at window and park in a numbered spot for them to bring to you / very safe from a bad covid experience /

Sea food salad was my order a very poor example I'll never order another. Crab and shrimp was on the salad. The crab portion was dry not fresh, no flavor. Such a small amount it may have been as much that is in the smallest leg! The shrimp was 3 that were cut lengthwise they were steamed but again such a small amount? My date did enjoy her dinner she had cod. Btw the waitress should know what type crab was served snow crab or king crab but Not a hybrid snow-king crab. Don't bother ordering a seafood salad!

This was my first time here and it definitely won't be my last!!! My server was named Autumn. She was very polite. The staff at the door was also very nice. The food was delicious. Good portions. I intend on making this a regular spot. Those frog legs were huge. I had the create your own platter with frog legs, perch, and jumbo shrimp. It's nap time now. 🤣

Always get crab legs to go. They are always perfect...I don't think I have ever eaten anything else on the menu honestly. But crab legs are good! Staff is good! I'll be back

I've been fortunate to dine at Whitey's almost weekly over the last few months. They have an awesome soup and salad bar that offers a great mix of fresh veggies and other tasty dishes for a good price. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend them! My friends that accompany me from time to time love the fish they offer.

Overheard them treating their employees like trash. Would hate to work for them. And the smell is nasty. No air.

This restaurant is such a favorite of locals, but folks drive in from all around! I've never visited when there wasn't a bit of a wait, but never had to wait long. Nice salad bar that comes with dinner. I come for the crab legs! Can't seem to fully satisfy my craving for them, and Whitey's never disappoints! Everything seafood, and freshwater fish choices, too. There really is no comparison for Whitey's. We sure hope they are able to survive the lockdown orders. One of the first restaurants on my list to go back to, but I know we will be waiting in a LONG line!

We heard that there is a new owner and we believed it after the experience we had today. One of our party ordered the cod and shrimp and found that nothing on her plate was hot - not the cod, not the shrimp, and not the baked potato! Another commented that the fried clam strips were undercooked. Onions on the salad bar were old; the carrots had a really bad “musty” smell/taste; and the sunflower seeds were rancid. Having said all of that, I enjoyed the cod and crab meal, even though our waitress did not bring a warmer for the melted butter.

I've been going to Whitey's for years and this was my first time using the drive thru and I would definitely go back. The staff working the drive thru were fast and efficient! They were working very hard!

I give this place 4 stars because it's usually wonderful and the ONLY place I get fish from. But today we got fish and shrimp and it was horrible. The grease must be bad because our shrimp was darker than ever and tasted burnt and the fries were under cooked but soggy, soaked in grease and tasted burnt. The fish was asked to be well done and it was soggy, falling apart and also tasted burnt. Bad food was never an issue at Whitey's but today I was so disappointed especially since we paid all that money and ended up throwing it away once we got home.

I was disappointed by the food. I ordered their "famous" fish and chips. Two small pieces of fish (approximately 2 inch by 2 inch) were not fresh or cooked properly. My girlfriend got a different dish that included the cod and it was the same way. I am just praying we don't get sick. The stars I gave were for the good service.

We arrived at 5:30 PM and got seated very quickly considering the queue by the hostess station. The seating was very tight and a woman nearly knocked off my Mother’s take away meal as she was walking by our table. The floor was dirty and had butter on it. The waitress never offered to bring us extra water but kept my son’s drink filled with 🥤 soda. We were offered warm bread 🥖 🥖 and I think that was the best part of the meal. We each ordered a shrimp dinner $16.99 a piece which came with 8 shrimp 🍤 and unlimited trips to the salad 🥗 bar. My son had one soda and my Mother ordered a cup of Lobster bisque and the meal came to just over $60. There wasn’t anything special to the meal. I don’t see what all the fuss is about Whitey’s restaurant. 👎

We enjoyed The pick three meal option that included salad bar. Very fresh food and Staff knew the meaning of customer service. Our group were seated in a comfortable and convenient central area during an adult Birthday party. I may need to go on another occasion.

It was my late birthday celebration dinner and it was absolutely out of this world. I will definitely be coming back. When I called and asked about your menu people were polite I should say the gentleman was polite. Today when I got my meal the Dome and I took her out it was polite and the gentleman that delivered our dinner was very polite. Excellent job keep up the great work. Be proud of your employees are doing great

Have been to Whitey's many of times and love it. Thus was the first time I went to the drive through. Service was super fast and friendly. My fish n chips were piping hot and crispy. Was so good and I ate it so fast that I almost choked.

The atmosphere is really good, especially compared to the outside. The inside is amazing looking. The food is good, fish can sometimes be a bit soggy, (the deep fried). The service is good too.

I absolutely love their fish and chips it's very hard to top the quality that these people bring in. What a magnificent establishment. My girlfriend Jade used to work up here in bartending they ended up firing her for a petty reason for the food is still bomb LOL

A nice place to eat. I've been there several times. The food is good and the staff is friendly, and fast. Great froglegs. Plus , the bread sticks are awesome. Give it a try...
